Garry Nolan

Garry P. Nolan is a Professor of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine and one of the world's leading immunologists. Nolan led the scientific analysis of "Ata" โ€” a small, unusual skeletal specimen from the Atacama Desert of Chile, which had circulated in UFO circles as a possible alien body. His genomic analysis, published in Genome Research (2018), established that Ata was a human being โ€” a premature infant with multiple rare mutations causing severe skeletal abnormalities โ€” definitively closing the alien hypothesis for that specific specimen. His willingness to apply rigorous science to a sensationalist claim, following the evidence wherever it led, is characteristic of his broader methodological approach.
