An alleged top-secret U.S. government committee purportedly established by President Truman in September 1947 to manage recovery and investigation of extraterrestrial craft and biological materials following the Roswell incident. Documents purportedly from MJ-12 surfaced in 1984 and were provided to ufologist Jaime Shandera. The FBI and AFOSI investigated and concluded the documents were fraudulent. No confirmed official documentation has emerged, but analogous oversight structures have been alleged by government whistleblowers in Congressional testimony (2023) and by former DIA official David Grusch.

A classified Defense Intelligence Agency programme active from 2007 to 2012, distinct from but closely related to AATIP. AAWSAP, administered through the DIA's Directorate for Intelligence Plans and Harnessing, contracted BAASS to produce 38 technical reports on advanced aerospace topics including UAP propulsion, material science, human biological effects, and related anomalous phenomena including poltergeist-type activity at Skinwalker Ranch. An alleged informal network of U.S. intelligence community officials and defence scientists who, according to documents and testimony from the 1980s and 1990s, took an active interest in UAP phenomena while using bird-based codenames — including Falcon, Condor, Bluejay, Pelican, and others. Members allegedly included figures from the CIA, DIA, and AFOSI. The network's activities are linked to information operations targeting civilian UAP researchers, most notably in the Paul Bennewitz affair, in which AFOSI agent Richard Doty fed false information to researcher Bennewitz, contributing to his psychological breakdown.

A classified Ministry of Defence programme active from 1997 to 2000, commissioned by DI55 (the Defence Intelligence Staff directorate responsible for UAP), which produced the report Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the UK Air Defence Region (4 volumes, 2000). Declassified and released under FOIA in 2006, the report concluded that UAP represent a real phenomenon but are likely attributable to a previously unrecognised natural plasma phenomenon with potential military significance. Its conclusions influenced subsequent academic and governmental UAP discussions.

An alleged informal working group within the U.S. government, described by journalist Nick Redfern in his book Final Events (2010), purportedly composed of conservative Christian officials in the defence and intelligence community who concluded during the 1990s that the UAP/NHI phenomenon has demonic rather than extraterrestrial origins. The group allegedly advocated for a suppression strategy based on this theological interpretation and opposed UAP disclosure on spiritual grounds. No official documentation confirming the group's existence has been released.

A term coined by astrophysicist and UAP researcher Jacques Vallée to describe an informal, decentralised international network of scientists, engineers, and intelligence professionals who privately investigated UAP phenomena while publicly maintaining silence, operating during the 1960s–1980s. Members allegedly included J. Allen Hynek, Vallée himself, and researchers from government and academic contexts who were unable to pursue UAP research openly due to professional stigma or classification constraints. Vallée described the network in his 1975 book The Invisible College.

An administrative unit within the British Ministry of Defence, known internally as Secretariat (Air Staff) 2a and later DAS, that handled UAP reports from the public and military from approximately 1950 until its closure in 2009. Staffed for most of its existence by a single officer, the desk maintained files on thousands of UAP reports and was periodically tasked with assessments including the Project Condign study. Italy's foremost UAP research organisation, founded in 1985 through the merger of several Italian UFO groups. CISU maintains the most comprehensive database of Italian UAP cases (over 17,000 entries) and publishes the peer-reviewed journal UFO — Rivista di Informazione Ufologica. CISU applies a rigorous case classification system and has conducted detailed analysis of several significant Italian military and civilian encounters.

SEPRA (Service d'Expertise des Phénomènes de Rentrées Atmosphériques) was a predecessor body to GEIPAN within CNES, active from 1977 to 2004. SIGMA2 is the current CNES working group responsible for technical analysis of UAP cases in collaboration with GEIPAN, applying optical, radar, infrared, and physical analysis to individual encounters. Together these bodies represent the most continuous national scientific UAP analysis programme in the world.
