Wild god of forests and prophecy
Faunus is one of the oldest Roman deities, a rustic god of forests, pastures, and prophetic voices. He is said to speak to mortals through dreams and through whispering sounds in sacred groves. The Fauni (plural) are the woodland spirits of his retinue.

Ancient Italic nature deity; grandson of Saturn in some traditions; father of Latinus, legendary king of the Latins.
