Lord of fertility, peace, and prosperity
Freyr is one of the most important and beloved Norse gods — ruler of Álfheim (realm of light elves) and the divine patron of sunshine, rain, and the harvest. His rule promises peace and prosperity. He is famously depicted with a large phallus, symbolising his fertility role. His greatest sacrifice was giving away his magic sword to win the hand of the giantess Gerðr — leaving himself disarmed at Ragnarök.
Lineage
Son of Njörðr; twin brother of Freyja; originally Vanir; exchanged to Æsir as hostage after the Æsir–Vanir War.
