Fenrir
The monstrous wolf, bane of Odin
Fenrir is a wolf of catastrophic, world-ending size — one of the primary agents of Ragnarök. The gods raised him in Asgard, attempting to control him, but as he grew to monstrous proportions, they knew he had to be bound. Only Týr was brave enough to place his hand in Fenrir's mouth as a pledge when the wolf was bound with the magical ribbon Gleipnir. At Ragnarök, Fenrir breaks free and swallows Odin whole.

Core Myths
- The gods tried three times to bind Fenrir; the first two times he broke free easily.
- The third binding used Gleipnir — a magical ribbon made from impossible things (the sound of a cat's footstep, beard of a woman, roots of a mountain, sinews of a bear, breath of a fish, spittle of a bird).
- Remains bound at the rock Gioll until Ragnarök, when he breaks free.
- Swallows Odin at Ragnarök; is then killed by Odin's son Víðarr who tears his jaws apart.
